Aosta was founded in 25 BC by the Romans under the name of Augusta Praetoria.
It is a small town ; with about 40000 inhabitants, pleasant and animated.
One can admire many traces of the Romans : the Praetorian gate, the Augustus arch, remain the theatre and of the forum.
The cathedral dates of the XIIth century, but only the two Romance bell-towers are from this time.
